An Iraqi Airways plane landed in Kuwait City on February 27 for the first time since former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussain's invasion in 1990.

Iraq's foreign and transport ministers flew on an Airbus A320 and were greeted by Kuwaiti officials upon landing at the international airport in Kuwait City.

The two countries reached a deal late last year under which Baghdad will pay $500 million in compensation to Kuwait Airways for damages caused during the Iraqi occupation.

Kuwait Airways has not yet resumed flights to Iraq.
