Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) fighters celebrated in the Abu Salim district of Tripoli on October 14.
Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) says three people have been killed in gun battles in Tripoli between supporters of ousted ruler Muammar Qaddafi and forces of the interim government.
The October 14 clashes in the Abu Salim district appeared to be isolated and involved only dozens of pro-Qaddafi fighters – but reports say it was the first sign of organized armed resistance to the National Transitional Council in Tripoli since revolutionary fighters seized the capital and ended Qaddafi's 42-year rule in August.
NTC Tripoli security official Abdel Razak al-Oraidi said two Qaddafi loyalists and one NTC fighter were killed, while some 30 others were wounded.
He also said authorities had raised the state of alert in the capital to the maximum "A" level.
NTC fighters are also still seeking to complete the capture of Qaddafi's hometown of Sirte from small pockets of Qaddafi loyalists.
The whereabouts of Qaddafi remain unknown.
