Smoke rises over the western side of Tripoli on October 14.
A gun battle erupted in Tripoli between armed supporters of ousted Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi and pro-government forces.
Reports said the two sides exchanged fire in the Abu Salim neighborhood of the capital.
The BBC quoted an eyewitness as saying he had seen about 20 pro-Qaddafi fighters firing assault rifles. Forces loyal to the National Transitional Council were engaging them from trucks mounted with machine guns.
According to hospital sources, at least eight people were wounded in the gun battle, which has now ended.
Qaddafi was ousted in August when troops from the National Transitional Council took control of Tripoli.
His loyalists still hold parts of Qaddafi's hometown of Sirte and the desert crossroads town of Bani Walid.
