Information on the above-mentioned topic is provided in the attached copy of a UNHCR legal factsheet on the Spanish refugee determination system. According to the UNHCR representative in Madrid, amendments to the Spanish Law on Asylum, 5/84 were adopted on 13 June 1994 (20 Jul. 1994). The UNHCR representative faxed the Spanish version of these amendments to the DIRB, and this document is available on request.
This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
