The Al-Qaeda-linked Al Nusra Front says it has killed a captive Lebanese soldier.
In a statement issued on December 5, Al Nusra said it killed the soldier after Lebanese authorities arrested women identified as wives of Islamist militants.
Al Nusra Front warned it would execute another captured Lebanese soldier "within a short period" if the women were not released.
Lebanese authorities earlier this week said they had detained a wife of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the wive of a Al Nusra Front leader.
More than two dozen Lebanese security forces were captured by militants linked to the Al Nusra Front and Islamic State during an attack on the Lebanese border town of Arsal in August.
The executed soldier is believed to be from this group.
