Please find attached the 11 March, 1977 Keesing's Contemporary Archives coverage of the "Report of Commission of Inquiry into alleged Police Brutality - Government Reactions - other internal security Developments" which refers directly to the "Mongoose Gang". The 2 July 1977 Facts On File reports that the "Mongoose Gang" was used against protesters during the OAS meeting on the Island. The February 1983 Keesing's Volume XXIX discusses the release of some of the persons held since the 1979 coup and that those persons had had to surrender their passports and report to the police every two weeks. [ Keesing's Contemporary Record, Vol. XXIX, No. 2, February 1983. (New York: Longman Press, 1983), p. 31947.] Keesing's report of the October 1983 overthrow of the Bishop government and subsequent U.S. invasion of the Island did not mention the release of any prisoners from Grenadine jails.
