China: 1. What is the status of Han Chinese living in Urumqi? Is there information in relation to whether a Han Chinese family would receive protection from the authorities if harassed by Uighurs? 2. Democratic People's Republic of Korea: 1. Some purported North Koreans state that they have never held a travel document in their hands, and does not know the identity recorded in their passport. If true, this implies that such passengers and their escorts are confident that Immigration officials accept documents that are handled exclusively by their escorts, and that the officials do not engage directly with the passenger. Can the Department indicate whether or not this is usual practice? (The incoming passengers may well be part of tour groups from China.) 2.
