Neither the name of the present leader of the Front national du Tchad (FNT) in exile in Paris nor reports of his 8 September 1998 Radio France broadcast could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

However, a member of the "Bureau politique" in charge of Co-operation and Foreign Affairs within one of the political opposition parties in Chad, the Conseil national de redressement du Tchad (CNR), stated during a 14 June 1999 telephone interview that the present leader of the Front National du Tchad is named Dr. Al-Harris. He added that Ahmat Yacoub was responsible for FNT Foreign Affairs on an acting basis until end of 1996 when he was excluded from that party.

Corroborating and/or additional information could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
