Information on the above-mentioned topic could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB. However, please find attached the excerpt Conflict in Central America, which states that "Nicaraguan and Honduran patrol boats clashed in the Gulf of Fonseca on Aug. 13 [1982], and the Nicaraguan defence ministry said that Salvadorean vessels were also involved" (Schooley 1987, 196). Please note that the acronyms used in the attached section from Nicaragua: A Country Guide refer to the Nicaraguan army as the EPS (Sandinista People's Army Ejercito Popular Sandinista) and the MPS (Sandinista People's Militia Milicia Popular Sandinista) (1990, 218).
