No mention of whether the United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) has any offices in Pakistan, outside of Azad Kasmir, could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

The only information found pertaining to the treatment of members of the UKPNP are references to the detention of its chairman, Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, by government authorities (India Abroad 20 Mar. 1998; Amnesty International 22 Jan. 1998, 1 Oct. 1998). He was reported to have been abducted in January 1998 by persons "believed to be members of the security forces" (ibid. 22 Jan. 1998). On 1 October 1998 Amnesty International reported that he had been released "a few days" previously, but had no information as to where he was detained or how he had been treated.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
