Clashes Resume in Donetsk After Lull

A ceasefire in Donetsk city which Ukrainian security forces agreed with the terrorists on May 27 has come to an end. In the past few hours, counter-terrorist forces in Donetsk have neutralised a number of the terrorists' firing positions, Dmitry Tymchuk, coordinator of the Information Resistance group, reports.
Near the airport, a mortar crew has been captured, and a Caucasian was identified among the militants. A minibus carrying weapons was captured, containing inter alia, ten hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers. The security forces also seized a Shmel infantry-portable rocket launcher.
Eyewitnesses say a Kamaz truck packed with men in camouflage has just driven onto Shakhtostroiteli Boulevard. Simultaneously, a BMD airborne assault vehicle, a BTR personnel carrier, five Kamaz trucks packed with fighters, two PAZ buses, an ambulance, two cars and a couple of heavy machine guns drove down Panfilov Street. The vehicles are reportedly flying Russian Federation flags.
The Information Resistance group says that as well as Ukrainian nationals, those killed in the special operations zone over the last three days have been identified as Serbs, Russian citizens from Ingushetia, Chechnya and Dagestan, and residents of Abkhazia.
The counter-terrorism operation went into active mode in Donetsk on May 26. The fighting has mostly taken place near the airport and in the nearby Kievsky district.
As of 14:30 on May 27, the security forces and terrorists agreed a ceasefire, on the initiative of both sides. On the morning of May 28, the authorities in Donetsk said the night had passed fairly peacefully.
The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has denied that combat units from Chechnya are taking part in the fighting in Donetsk.
