According to an official of the British High Commission, people living in Bermuda are British Dependent Territory citizens, and no person born in Bermuda can automatically obtain the rights of nationality or residency in the United Kingdom (1 June 1993). The same official, in a facsimile sent to the DIRB on 2 June 1993, indicates that, "Generally speaking, a person is a British Citizen if they or their father were born, registered or naturalised in the United Kingdom. A person can get the Right of Abode in Britain if their mother was born there. Only under certain circumstances can a person get British citizenship through a grandparent."

No additional and/or corroborating information on this topic is currently available to the DIRB in Ottawa
