According to a representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Ottawa, no Sri Lankan nationals were deported from Denmark to Sri Lanka between 1988 and 1990, but a Tamil woman was deported in 1991 (20 July 1993). Information on whether any Sri Lankans were deported in 1992 and 1993 could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB.

The attached article from The Guardian of 29 April 1992 mentions domestic political scandals, including what the paper describes as the "unconstitutional deportation of Sri Lankan Tamil political refugees." The attached report from Keesing's Record of World Events 1991 states that in 1989 Danish immigration officials broke immigration laws by refusing entry to the families of Tamil workers already resident in the country (1991, 38469).

Additional and/or corroborating information on the above subject is currently unavailable to the DIRB.
