A broadcast of CBC's The National on 20 August 1987 quoted Darshan Singh, a Sikh leader, who stated that even though the Sikhs "showing up in Canada" are not refugees forced to leave, the Indian authorities may ill treat them upon their return to India. No further information is available in the published and publicly-available sources regularly consulted by the IRBDC. A copy of the transcript of this news broadcast is attached.
