The scene in the eastern Kazakh city of Oskemen where Valery Proskuryakov was gunned down on October 13.
Valery Proskuryakov, a leader of Kazakhstan's ruling Nur-Otan party in eastern Kazakhstan, has been shot dead in what officials suggest was a contract-style killing, RFE/RL's Kazakh Service reports.
Proskuryakov had just gotten into his car when an unknown assailant ran up and shot Proskuryakov in the head, then fled.
Local police have launched an investigation and are searching for the gunman.
Proskuryakov had been a leader in the East Kazakhstan branch of Nur-Otan for many years.
