According to a representative of the Consulate General of Sierra Leone in Washington, Sierra Leone does not automatically grant nationality to people born in the country (8 July 1993). Lebanese born in Sierra Leone of Lebanese parents holding Sierra Leone nationality, or a Lebanese born in Sierra Leone of Lebanese parents who do not hold Sierra Leone nationality, can apply for Sierra Leone nationality and have their request considered (Ibid.). The representative added that applicants must provide evidence of both their own and their parents' residency in Sierra Leone, as well as their own and their parents' birth certificates (Ibid.). The representative added that in both cases mentioned above, the chance of the request for nationality being accepted by the Sierra Leone authorities is good (Ibid.).

Additional and/or corroborating information on this subject is currently unavailable to the DIRB in Ottawa.
