A representative of the High Commission of Malaysia in Ottawa provided the following information during telephone interviews on 12 May 1993.

Generally, people travelling on Sri Lankan passports are only allowed transit through Malaysia and they are restricted to the airport upon arrival in the country. This also applies to those who have Canadian entry permits stamped in their passports. Should the holder of a Sri Lankan passport wish to visit Malaysia, he/she must first obtain a visitor's visa. It may take up to three months to obtain this document. It is not required that a Sri Lankan have an invitation from residents in Malaysia to obtain the visitor's visa; however, the presence of relatives in the country may facilitate the process. The maximum stay in Malaysia for a person having a visitor's visa is two months.

Additional and/or corroborating information on this subject is not currently available to the DIRB.
