Information on a coup attempt by junior army officers in November 1990 is currently unavailable to the IRBDC. However, an article in The New York Times on 9 December 1990 reports dissatisfaction among junior officers immediately prior to the resignation of General Ershad ("Revolution Brings Bangladesh Hope", 9 December 1990, 3). Elaborating on political unrest in Bangladesh and General Ershad's measures to contain it late in November 1990, the article paraphrases a former Bangladeshi army officer who said: "at that point, junior officers in the army began to criticize the President openly. Within a few days, members of the Bangladesh Rifles were laying down their arms rather than shoot protestors" (Ibid.).

Further information on the subject is currently unavailable to the IRBDC.
