Monsoon rains have triggered river overflows in the State of Assam, north-eastern India, causing damage and evacuations.
As of 25 June, the State Disaster Management Authority reports a total of 33 villages affected in five districts, namely Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Darrang, Udalguri, and Kamrup, while over 8 900 people are sheltered in five relief centres opened in Darrang and Udalguri.
For 26-28 June, the Indian Meteorological Department has not issued any warnings for heavy rain over Assam.

Flooding has been reported on the Northern Bank of the Brahmaputra River: 24 393 people are affected, of whom 9 528 persons have been moved to five relief camps.
Local authorities are responding to the emergency. DG ECHO is monitoring the situation.
