With violence in several areas of Syria escalating humanitarian needs. Over 5.6 million Syrian refugees are in urgent need of aid, fleeing for their lives. More than half of them are children.

This is on top of a humanitarian situation that is already desperate; Syrian civilians have more than suffered enough.Seven years into conflict Syria remains the largest refugee crisis in the world. It is the largest humanitarian operation in history. The number of Syrian refugees has now reached 5.6 million, and over half of these refugees are children. UNHCR is mobilising support both within Syria and to the neighbouring countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq, who are hosting the majority of the refugees from this crisis.
