Tropical Storm Maysak - Nov 2008
Disaster description
Tropical Cyclone Quinta (local name) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) twice: on November 6 as a Tropical Depression, exited out of the country on November 8 as a Tropical Storm and re-entered PAR on November 10-11 as Tropical Depression. NDRRMC reported 4,812 people affected, 19 deaths, and 14 injuries as of 12 November. A total of 92 houses were damaged in Regions VI and VII. (Govt. of the Philippines, 12 Nov 2008)
In Viet Nam, a local statistic showed that the flood had killed five people in the district. Five houses and ten irrigation works were damaged, nearly 4,600 ha of subsidiary crop destroyed and nearly 269 ha of aquaculture submerged. (Govt. of Viet Nam, 10 Nov 2008)
