This month, OCHA launches an upgraded version of the HumanitarianResponse.info (HR.info) platform, branded as ReliefWeb Response (RW Response), within ReliefWeb Labs. Labs projects explore new and emerging opportunities to improve information delivery to humanitarians.
RW Response will focus on aggregating operational content from existing platforms and will provide an authoritative source of information in new and existing humanitarian operations. As the name suggests, the platform will be strongly integrated with existing ReliefWeb services.
Reports, Maps and Infographics will be managed by ReliefWeb and displayed in the updated platform via feeds. Site managers will be able to specify what content to display (eg. data from Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX), meeting calendars, dashboards, etc) and create custom pages to feature content that is important to the local context.
Benefits include:
Reduced Content Overlap: Research indicates that more than 90 percent of the documents, maps and infographics on HR.info also appear on ReliefWeb. Not only is this a duplication of content, but also a duplication of effort in managing that content. By organising the documents in a single location, we will help to ensure that users can find the latest and most relevant information when they need it, in the most efficient way possible.
Streamlined Work Processes: Information Management Officers (IMOs) are increasingly multi-tasked with competing priorities in field operations - managing HR.info, submitting content to ReliefWeb, submitting data to HDX and managing office-specific platforms and dashboards. The consolidation of HR.info with ReliefWeb frees up IMOs to focus on their key operational requirements such as creating content, coordinating information flows and building partnerships.
New documents, maps and infographics can be added simply by emailing them to submit@reliefweb.int .
As always, we value your input, so please send your comments and suggestions to feedback@reliefweb.int.
