Lithuanian contributions to UNHCR
Since 2011, Lithuania is an important donor to UNHCR. Over time, Lithuania has increased its support to UNHCR. In 2022, Lithuania contributed a total of USD 225,225 to UNHCR, making Lithuania one of our top 50 donors per capita.
Facts about Lithuania as a donor:
- Lithuania has supported UNHCR’s work in Syria for several years.
- Half of Lithuania’s 2022 contribution to UNHCR went to the Mali operation.
- The other half of Lithuania’s contribution in 2022 was unearmarked, enabling rapid responses to sudden, urgent situations such as the sudden war in Ukraine, and protracted crises.
- Over the years, Lithuania has also provided support for UNHCR’s response to the Syria situation and refugees hosted in Bangladesh.

Lithuania steps up efforts for the forcibly displaced in 2017
In 2017, the Lithuanian government increased its annual funding to UNHCR, strengthening the protection of people forced to flee their homes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar and Syria.
