About Sheikha Asma Al Thani

Sheikha Asma Al Thani is a record-setting Qatari athlete from the royal family and a champion of women empowerment in the Arab World and beyond. She encourages women to pursue their passions and achieve their goals.

She is an adventurer at heart and a humanitarian by nature. In 2014, she was one of the first Qatari women to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in a philanthropic effort to fundraise QAR 2 million for Gaza. She was also the first Qatari to ski to the North Pole's last degree, and the first Qatari woman to reach Mount Vinson in the South Pole in December 2021. During the latter climb, she raised the UNHCR flag atop the highest peak in Antarctica, shedding light on the plight of refugees and forced displacement.

As she continues her journey to set multiple records during her two-year expedition, including completing the Explorers Grand Slam as the first woman from the Middle East to do so, she will lend her major social media platforms and wide network to raise further awareness on the refugee cause and advocate for additional support to the forcibly displaced worldwide.
