Luciano D'Alessandro
About Luciano
Colombian-Venezuelan actor, Luciano D’Alessandro, has been supporting UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, since 2018. Based in Colombia, Luciano is committed to promoting integration and discouraging acts of xenophobia against the refugee and migrant population coming from Venezuela.
Luciano’s support for UNHCR began through the Somos Panas Colombia campaign, a communication strategy created by UNHCR in 2017 to promote the integration of Venezuelans in Colombia. Luciano has also promoted UNHCR fundraising campaigns, including an initiative to procure a mobile health unit for Colombian and Venezuelan women without access to health services.
As one of the most renowned actors in Colombia, Luciano uses his platform to share information and raise awareness through live events on social media. He joined the #NosDamosLaMano (#WeShakeHands) challenge, promoting the message that humanity unites us beyond our differences.
In June 2021, Luciano hosted the commemoration event of World Refugee Day in Colombia. This was attended by Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, who thanked Luciano for his commitment to UNHCR as a high profile supporter.
Luciano is dedicated to his work for UNHCR and has said: “UNHCR, Colombia and Venezuela can count on me; I am here to contribute. If we all row towards the same goal, life and our coexistence can be easier. We need to put ourselves in other people's shoes”.
