The following information was received from an official of the Embassy of Spain in Ottawa on 19 September 1991.
1) and 2) Status refugees in Spain, who leave the country for more than one year and who do not receive special permission from the authorities, loose their refugee status. In order to re-obtain their status rights, they would have to go through the refugee determination process again.
3) Status refugees and those with permanent residency status can be issued temporary, non-renewable travel documents known, in French, as "Titre de voyages." Those holding such documents are authorized to leave the country for no longer than one year.
