Information on the passage of a new law on citizenship in Ecuador could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB. However, Response to Information Request ECU17521.E of 6 June 1994 does have information on the procedures to recover Ecuadorian citizenship. Please also find attached a copy of the Ecuadorian Naturalization Act No. 276 which contains information on citizenship.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
