Comments © Crown copyright December 2008. The Code of Practice was issued under Section 21 of the UK Borders Act 2007 and enters into force on 6 January 2009. The Code has been superseded by the duty regarding the welfare of children under section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009, which places the UK Border Agency on the same footing as other public bodies working with children.
