Some 360 families who fled their homes due to fighting between the government and factions of the rebel Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and had since been living in evacuation centers in Datu Piang and Datu Odin Sinsuat managed to return to their homes in Pagatin, Maguindanao province, at the end of May. The returning families received food assistance from local volunteers and relief groups such as the MERN to help them during the transition period. The United Nations Act For Peace also committed to build 150 core shelters and restore a health centers in the area of return.
