Please see the attached relevant statutes of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and the Texas Family Code which were provided by the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Texas in a letter dated 21 January 1998.

According to a 15 October 1997 report in The Dallas Morning News, "a national domestic hotline, operated out of Austin, is staffed 24 hours a day by operators who can speak several languages". The number is 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints.
