The New People's Army (NPA) is the military wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) (Far East and Australasia 1993 1993, 846). For information on the NPA and the CPP, please refer to pages 243 and 244 of Amnesty International Report 1994, pages 670 to 673 of Country Reports for 1994, as well as to the attachments. Amnesty International Report 1994 and Country Reports for 1994 are both available at your Regional Documentation Centre.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
