According to Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 1991 (1990, 119), the Eritrean Peoples Liberation Front (EPLF) assassinated four civilians and a member of the Mengistu's national parliament early in 1992. According to this source, however, there have been no reports of extralegal killings since the EPLF came to power in Eritrea. A report by Amnesty International (18 May 1992) contradicts the above information by stating that officials of the former government and Workers Party of Ethiopia (WPE) have been detained by the governments of Ethiopia and Eritrea. Amnesty International maintains that the EPLF is very vindictive towards its opponents. For further information on this topic, please refer to the attached document.
