Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees
Side event of the 73rd Session of the Executive Committee:
Area-based Solutions to Displacement in Afghanistan
Moderated by Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees (SSAR), UNHCR will hold a side event exploring how area-based approaches support and enable durable solutions. With over 1 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) having returned home in the year since the end of large-scale armed conflict, area-based approaches have been key to building community resilience, supporting the sustainability of return as well as building potential for the eventual further returns of forcibly displaced Afghans.
