These indigenous seafarers were at risk of statelessness, until now
A birth certificate is something many of us take for granted. For thousands of Sama Bajau this document means they can finally prove they exist. Since 2019, a community outreach programme has registered 900 of the indigenous seafarers in the Philippines who were at risk of statelessness.
