1) No information is currently available to the IRBDC regarding the arrest and sentencing of the four people mentioned above. Please find attached a series of articles which mention the town of Bitola, Macedonia and the relations between the Albanian community and the Macedonians.
2) No information on the movement of Albanian children to Macedonia or elsewhere in Yugoslavia for the purposes of education is currently available to the IRBDC. Note, however, that three of the attached articles mention a policy adopted by the Macedonian authorities to integrate Albanian and Macedonian children in classes taught in Macedonian. ("Trial of five ethnic Albanians accused of spreading hostile propaganda opens in southern Yugoslavia", BBC Monitoring Service, 5 January 1989; "Yugoslavia: The disturbances in Kumanovo", BBC Monitoring Service, 3 September 1988; "Nine Yugoslav policemen injured in confrontation with ethnic Albanians demonstrating against bilingual education", BBC Monitoring Service, 29 August 1988.) Previously, children from each ethnic group held separate classes in their own language.
