The names of the Directors General of the National Police Force during the presidency of Hissen Habre could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

Africa Confidential of 15 December 1989 states that Hissen Habre is a member of of the Anakaza branch, one of the two branches comprising the Gorane ethnic group which is dominant in the north. The other branch, the Zaghawa, is President Idriss Deby's tribe (7). Mondes rebelles corroborates Hissen Habre's membership in the Anakaza ethnic group (1996, 214).
