As of 3 October 2011, the National Crisis Centre had not yet opened, according to the Director of the Family Services Division of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' Ministry of National Mobilisation, Social Development, the Family, Persons with Disabilities, Youth, Sports and Culture, who spoke with the Research Directorate in a telephone interview (3 Oct. 2011). He explained that they were still in the process of staffing and expected that the Centre would open within a few months' time (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 3 Oct. 2011). Representatives of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association (26 Aug. 2011) and the community social service centre Marion House (17 Oct. 2011), in correspondence with the Research Directorate, corroborated the Director's statement that the National Crisis Centre has not yet opened.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection.
