Obed Bazimaziki, a journalist with the opposition paper Le Flambeau, was killed near his home in Nyakabanda, Kigali. His colleague Charles Bideri-Munyangabe, a journalist with Le Messager, was killed at the same time. The government had detained Bazimaziki in 1991.
