Quoting section 7 of the Nationality Act (B.E. 2508), a representative of the Embassy of Thailand in Ottawa stated that a person born in Thailand of foreign nationals cannot acquire Thaï nationality (3 May 1993). The representative added that if one of the parents is a Thaï national, it is possible for the children to acquire Thaï nationality (Ibid.). The applicant must go to Thailand and apply at the Ministry of Interior, because this procedure cannot be done at a local Embassy of Thailand (Ibid.). The applicants must prove that they have lived in Thailand (Ibid.).
