The attached excerpts from Poland: A Country Study, published in 1994, provide information on AIDS dissemination in Poland and on the attempts made by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the early 1990s to set up a programme to fight the spread of the disease.
The attached 14 May 1996 Polish News Bulletin provides statistical information on rising HIV infections in Poland and on a joint Poland - UNDP programme to fight HIV and AIDS.
The attached 1 December 1995 United Press International (UPI) report provides HIV and AIDS statistics for Poland as well as information on localized initiatives to educate the population on AIDS and to provide shelter to AIDS patients.
The attached 30 July 1995 article from The Warsaw Voice provides information on a three-year government HIV prevention and care programme that is to be implemented from 1996 to 1998.
The attached 30 April 1994 British Medical Journal article provides information on discrimination against HIV and AIDS victims in Poland.
