No information on the treatment of Ahmadis-whether Qadianis or Lahoris-by other Muslims or Hindus could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
However, the following information may be of general interest.
The Chandigarh English-daily The Tribune reported in early December 1998 that the three-day annual international convention of the Ahmadiyya was held from 5-7 December 1998 in Qadian, Punjab (6 Dec. 1998; ibid. 8 Dec. 1998). Over 18,000 participants from India and 26 other countries attended (ibid. 6 Dec. 1998). Punjab Industrial Minister Sucha Singh Langah attended on the final day of the convention, and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal sent a message "wishing the convention a grand success" (ibid. 8 Dec. 1998).
