According to a spokesperson of the Ontario Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists, the Reformed Adventist movement adheres to a strict lifestyle, and first appeared in Germany after World War I. The sect was founded by a "disgruntled group of adventists" who broke away from the main Adventist Church (24 June 1993).                 Concerning their activities in Canada, the source said the Reformed Adventists have a centre in Burlington, Ontario and enjoy a better standard of living than do other adventists (Ibid.). The same source explained that it is a loosely structured organization and as a result it is difficult to determine the extent of their operations in this country. The source was also emphatic that the movement is not linked to the Davidians in Waco, Texas (Ibid.).

A spokesperson of the Quebec Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventists admitted a lack of knowledge about the existence of the group and of its activities in Montreal and in Quebec in general (24 June 1993). For further details on the history of the Seventh-Day Adventist Reform movement, please refer to the attachment.
