In a 19 January 1998 telephone interview, an official of the Grenadian Consulate in Toronto stated that an individual only has to produce proof of Grenadian citizenship and proof of their status in Canada before a passport would be renewed. The official went on to say that the Grenadian authorities would perform checks for outstanding warrants or convictions if requested to do so by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
