Response to Information Request GIN22031.E of 19 January 1996 provides limited information on residence permits in Guinea. The Response addresses temporary residence permits and the circumstances under which these permits are not renewed.

For more complete information on the legislation governing residence permits for foreigners in Guinea, please see the attached documents sent to the DIRB by the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in Ottawa. The information contained in these documents applies to all nationalities, with the exception of some residents whose countries have signed a special agreement with Guinea. For a list of these countries, please refer to the above-mentioned Response to Information Request.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
