Pakistani authorities say a roadside bomb has exploded near a security convoy in the country's southwest, killing three security personnel and wounding two others.
The attack on September 14 took place near the town of Pashi, about 50 kilometers north of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province, Ali Mohammad, a local security official, told RFE/RL's Radio Mashaal.
Pakistani media reported that the bomb was placed on a motorcycle and had targeted the car of the area's assistant commissioner, Amir Zaman Kakar, but he was not in the vehicle at the time.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Pakistani militants and small nationalist groups have been blamed for previous such attacks in Balochistan.
Provincial Home Minister Saleem Khosa condemned the attack and said that "terrorists will be dealt with with an iron fist."
Separatist groups also often target security forces in a bid to get a larger share of provincial resources and wealth or autonomy from Islamabad.
Pakistan's government claims it has quelled the insurgency, but violence has continued.
