Information on the specific subject of coup attempts in Ghana since 1991 is currently unavailable to the DIRB; however, it might be of interest to note that there was a demonstration by civil servants in Accra and the regions in July 1992 (BBC World Service 23 Jul. 1992). The civil servants reportedly wanted better pay and working conditions and salary parity with the private sector (Ibid.). Armed riot-police prevented the demonstrators from presenting their petition to Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings, who was reportedly out in the regions at the time (Ibid.). The source did not mention arrests or casualties.
Additional and/or corroborative information could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB in Ottawa.
