UNHCR High Commissioner meets Ethiopian refugees in eastern Sudan, urges for peace in Ethiopia
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi visits eastern Sudan where Ethiopian refugees who have fled violence in the Tigray region are being hosted. He was joined by the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Mr.
Dag-Inge Ulstein and met refugees in Um Rakuba camp. Grandi called for peace in Ethiopia through negotiation and political talks to end the fighting that began in November 2020 and has displaced hundreds of thousands inside the country and forced nearly 48,000 people to flee to Sudan.
