The High-Level Officials Meeting is one of the main arrangements for follow-up and review under the Global Compact on Refugees. It is held two years after every Global Refugee Forum (GRF) to take stock of progress.
The first High-Level Officials Meeting took place on 14 and 15 December 2021 at the International Conference Centre (CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The event was an opportunity for senior government officials and representatives of the international community to take stock of progress and maintain the momentum towards achieving the objectives of the Global Compact on Refugees, also taking into consideration the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Priorities for the event included:
- Expanding support for refugees and the countries who receive them
- Advancing implementation of the pledges made at the first Global Refugee Forum
- Identifying areas in need of further support and engagement
Virtual Space
To give visibility to the efforts leading up to this mid-term review, the Digital Platform for the Global Compact on Refugees is hosting a Virtual Space – a digital one-stop-shop that allowed participants to share content in line with the 2021 HLOM theme of “reflecting progress and charting the future”. By sharing content on progress on the Digital Platform, participants benefited from an increased visibility of their efforts that will live beyond the event itself. Please consult the Guidance Note to find out more about sharing content on the Virtual Space.
