The Protection Cluster in Colombia recently published its Protection Analysis Update for the Departamento de Nariño.

This document is intended to present an analysis of the protection situation across the department of Nariño in Colombia to ensure a better understanding of the main protection risks, with the aim to improve frontline protection coordination, advocacy and response.

The priority protection risks identified in the Departamento de Nariño are as follows:

  1. Forced displacement and confinement of communities
  2. Homicides, femicides, and disappearance
  3. Threats and retaliation
  4. Child recruitment
  5. Explosive ordnances and landmines contamination
  6. Gender-based violence including sexual violence
