This platform hosts a growing collection of good practices submitted by individuals, States, organizations, and businesses around the world who have designed and implemented initiatives and programmes to support and find long-term solutions for people who are stateless or forced to flee, and their host communities.
What constitutes a good practice?
Good practices are practical ways that the international community can translate the objectives of the Global Compact on Refugees into action at the local, national, regional, and global levels.
Through sharing good practices, stakeholders can learn from one another about what works well, what can be replicated in other situations, and what can be scaled up with further support to better the lives of refugees and host communities.
Sharing good practices can inspire others to develop innovative and impactful pledges and contributions for the Global Refugee Forum.
Good practice submissions are guided by the following criteria:
Required
- Contribute to the objectives of the Global Compact on Refugees: (i) ease pressures on host countries; (ii) enhance refugee self-reliance; (iii) expand access to third country solutions; and (iv) support conditions in countries of origin for return in safety and dignity.
- Have the potential to be adapted, replicated, and/or broadened in scale.
- Take into account age, gender, disability, and diversity considerations in their implementation.
Encouraged
- Contribute to burden and responsibility sharing.
- Broaden the support base beyond countries and stakeholders that have traditionally contributed to responses to large-scale refugee situations.
- Respond to identified needs and make a sustained, positive difference in the lives of refugees and host communities.
- Be developed and/or implemented in partnership with other stakeholders, including refugees and host communities.
- Highlight the opportunities to maximise the effect and efficient use of resources.
- Inspire or form the basis of contributions to be announced on the Digital Platform and future Global Refugee Forums.
